A Wedding Planner’s Dream: Classic, Timeless, and Just a Touch of Whimsy
Hi everyone! As a wedding planner, I’ve seen every kind of wedding imaginable. But when it came to my own, I had a clear vision: classic elegance with a touch of personal flair. Here’s how I brought my dream wedding to life:
The Look:
I’m all about timeless style, so I focused on warm, inviting details that wouldn’t feel dated in a few years. Think crisp whites, lush greenery, and pops of bright pink and coral.
Stripes are my thing, so I snuck them in wherever I could. The dance floor was painted in a fun blue, green, and white pattern, and my invitations had a subtle striped design.
But the real magic was in the reception space. I wanted to avoid the usual sea of round tables, so we used a mix of banquettes, long tables, and rounds. Each table had different linens and napkins, creating a truly unique and personal feel.
The Proposal:
My fiancé, William and I love to travel. During a family vacation in Aspen, he surprised me with a proposal on top of Aspen Mountain. Turns out, my family was in on the secret and had flown in to celebrate with us! It was an unforgettable trip.
The Dress (and More!):
I found my dream dress at Warren Barrón Bridal: a classic Monique Lhuillier gown with a detachable train. It was perfect for the ceremony, and I later swapped it for a fun, feathery Safiyaa mini-dress for dancing the night away.
The bridesmaids looked stunning in green and white floral dresses, and even the flower girls twirled in adorable vintage-style white frocks.
The Fun Stuff:
We skipped the signature cocktails and went for a full bar with all the favorites. Guests enjoyed Texas ranch waters (a nod to William’s roots) and espresso martinis to keep the energy up during dancing. The food was delicious, starting with a fresh tomato and mozzarella salad and ending with a decadent short rib and shrimp dinner.
The band, Jessie’s Girls, kept the party going all night long!
Special Touches:
Flowers: Jackson Durham brought my floral vision to life. The reception was a riot of color, with gorgeous pinks and corals popping against the green, white, and light blue linens. Each table had unique floral arrangements in vintage silver vases and trays.
Cake: We skipped the traditional white cake and opted for a pale green tiered creation adorned with sugar flowers.
Photography: Liz Banfield, a talented photographer and friend, captured all the special moments beautifully.
Fireworks: My dad surprised us with a fireworks display mid-reception! It was an incredible moment that I’ll never forget.
Invitations: Carly Creative Co. designed a stunning invitation suite that perfectly set the tone for the wedding. She even incorporated my beloved stripes!
Favors: Guests went home with boxes of delicious wedding cake – a sweet treat to remember the night.
Getaway Car: We ditched the traditional limo for a bright blue Moke America golf cart. It was the perfect way to ride off into the sunset (and head to the after-party!).
I hope this gives you a peek into my dream wedding. It was a night of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. If you’re planning your own big day, don’t be afraid to add your own personal touches and create a celebration that’s truly unique to you!
